The sign layout on the lower left is a possible design for a sign that would
be placed on the upcoming Hwy 151 that will bypass our town. The sign layout
below is an example of a way finding sign using the logo.
These designs have not yet been adopted and are still in the development stages
so if you have concerns or great ideas please contact

NOTE ABOUT COLOR & CONTRAST:
Colors in these signs are only there to help visualize the concept of color.
Every printer and computer screen is calibrated differently so the actual colors
will need to be specified from a color chart. All good designs need to stand
on their own in black and white before any colors are considered. Contrast is
the most important design element for readability. Colors are used to create
dimensional effects through contrasting values, example: the yellow lettering
in the wayfinding signs doesn't contrast as greatly as white lettering making
the yellow fall into the background and making it less readable. This creates
texture in the design. Colors can also convey feeling, example: red for emotion,
green for the environment and so on. Color can enhance designs but color can
never make a design. Color seems to get the most concern from people in discussing
a design but the more important fundimental design element is contrast. I believe
contrast is the least understood.
The brown color in the highway sign is the chosen color of the WI DOT for
that type of sign so we have no choice in that.
